The journal Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão (Psychology: Science and Profession), established by CFP Resolution No. 26 on July 26, 1979, is affiliated with the Federal Council of Psychology (Conselho Federal de Psicologia). It publishes original Theoretical Studies, Research Reports, and Experience Reports regarding the professional practice of psychologists, research, teaching, or critical reflection on knowledge production in the field of Psychology.

Its primary mission is to contribute to the professional training of Brazilian psychologists, as well as to socialize the knowledge produced by those who research and/or work in the field of Psychology.

Since 2019, it has adopted a continuous flow publication model. This means that once an article is approved in all evaluation stages, it can be made available on the journal's website without waiting for an issue to be finalized, ensuring faster publication.

It is a Brazilian journal affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC) and is available in several national and international indexing databases and portals.

This journal follows the Open Access model, allowing unrestricted virtual access (including financial restrictions) to all scientific texts published by the journal.

Open access is the condition in which the copyright holder of an academic work grants usage rights to third parties through an open license (Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY). This permits immediate free access to the work and authorizes any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.

In accordance with Open Science practices, Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão adopts a critical and strategic stance, producing accessible, transparent, and organized knowledge, with an understanding of the limits and possibilities that contribute to the progress of science.

Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão accepts the submission of articles previously deposited as preprints, provided they are stored on reliable platforms such as SciELO Preprints.

The journal is hosted on the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform and does not charge any fees for article publication (no APCs). All our content is published under the Creative Commons License - CC BY 4.0.

Authors must complete and submit the Open Science Compliance Form along with their manuscript. In this form, authors are requested to disclose:

• (a) if the manuscript is a preprint and, if so, its location;
• (b) if data, program codes, and other materials underlying the manuscript text are properly cited and referenced; and,
• (c) if they agree to open options in the peer review process. The decision to interact directly with the corresponding author, with or without disclosing identities, is a mutual agreement between authors and reviewers

This statement is based on the "Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" described by the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics - COPE.

To publish a manuscript in Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão, all parties involved in the act of publishing - authors, journal editors, and reviewers—must agree with the expected standards of ethical behavior. Every editorial decision is grounded in originality, contribution, relevance, thematic validity, general structure, and compliance with editorial policies to meet the journal's scope.

Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão publishes original articles regarding the professional practice of psychologists, research, teaching, or critical reflection on knowledge production in the field of Psychology. Submitted texts must be original and may be written in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French. They must possess scientific and social relevance for knowledge production in Psychology from a critical perspective, aligned with professional policies and attentive to Human Rights.
Since 2019, the PCP Journal has adopted a continuous flow publication model; once approved in all evaluation stages, the article is made available on the journal's website without waiting for an issue to be finalized, thus providing greater agility to the publication process.

Special editions and dossiers are also published on an exceptional basis, at the discretion of the CFP Management and the journal's Editorial Committee, depending on relevant current themes.

The abbreviated title of the journal is Psicol. (Cons. Fed. Psicol.), which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references, and bibliographic strips.

All articles published in the PCP journal have a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier), serving as an individual identifier that ensures its identification and guarantees perpetual accessibility on the internet.

In compliance with the principles of the Open Science movement, the journal Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão supports the use of preprint servers and accepts the submission of manuscripts previously deposited on reliable servers, such as SciELO Preprints.

A preprint is defined as a finalized manuscript ready for submission to a scientific journal, which is deposited in reliable public servers before or in parallel with the editorial submission. To be considered reliable, a preprint server must have a transparent moderation policy, assign a DOI, allow for version updates, provide mechanisms for community comments and evaluation endorsed by researchers, and ensure interoperability with other scientific communication services and platforms.

Only submissions of manuscripts previously deposited on public preprint platforms that meet these criteria of reliability, transparency, and scientific integrity will be accepted.

The submission of manuscripts deposited as preprints to Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão does not alter or replace the journal's editorial process. All manuscripts enter the regular peer review flow, following the editorial standards and scientific criteria established by the journal.

Upon acceptance and publication of the article in Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão, the authors must update the preprint record on the corresponding server, providing the full reference of the journal publication.

Submitted works must comply with the journal's editorial guidelines. The acceptance or rejection of manuscripts will be determined based on the report from the Editorial Board, which may call upon ad hoc reviewers whenever necessary.

The journal adopts transparency practices in the peer review process, publishing the name of the editor responsible for conducting the editorial evaluation in the final version of the article.

In line with Open Science guidelines, the journal offers the possibility for authors and reviewers, by mutual agreement, to opt for:

• The publication of review reports for approved articles, with the optional identification of reviewers; and
•  The mutual disclosure of author and reviewer identities during the evaluation process.

Submitted manuscripts will be initially evaluated for compliance with the journal's submission guidelines. In the event of inconsistencies or errors in the submission process, the authors will be notified, and the manuscript will be archived; it will be at the authors' discretion to perform a new submission.

Texts approved in this first stage will proceed to an analysis by the Editorial Board, which will evaluate their alignment with the journal's scope and scientific guidelines. For this analysis, the Editorial Board may consult the Advisory Board. In cases of non-alignment with the scope, the manuscript may be archived, and the authors will be duly notified.

Manuscripts approved in the previous stages will undergo evaluation by ad hoc reviewers, maintaining the anonymity of the authors. Following this stage, the manuscript may be rejected, returned for revisions, or accepted for publication, with authors being informed at every step.

The journal Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão (PCP) supports and encourages the sharing of research data, codes, methods, and other materials used in or resulting from the research underlying the articles published in the journal, in accordance with Open Science principles.

When data from external research are used, it is recommended to consult the Data Citation Guide provided by SciELO. Research data repositories recommended by SciELO are accepted and encouraged by the journal.

Among the repositories recommended by Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão is SciELO Data, an open and fee-free system that allows for the deposit of research data associated with a specific manuscript. If using SciELO Data, authors should only deposit the data after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. The list of recommended repositories for research data deposits is available on the SciELO website.

Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão does not charge any submission or publication fees of any kind. Financial sustainability is the responsibility of the Federal Council of Psychology (CFP).

Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão adopts the publication ethics principles included in the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct. Ethical issues or those that may damage the journal's reputation will be evaluated by the Editorial Body.

Editors have a duty to act upon any suspicion or allegation of identified misconduct. This investigation extends to both submissions and published articles. In cases of misconduct, the retraction policy will be applied by the journal, following the SciELO Guide of Best Practices.

• The Registration and Publication of Errata will follow SciELO recommendations.
• The Registration and Publication of Retractions will be conducted as proposed by SciELO

A conflict of interest occurs when authors, editors, or reviewers have personal, academic, institutional, political, commercial, or financial interests that could influence-actually or potentially-the preparation, evaluation, or editorial decision regarding a manuscript.

At the time of submission, authors must declare any conflicts of interest, as well as disclose in the manuscript all financial support and other relevant affiliations involved in the work. If a conflict exists, it must be reported in a specific, signed document and uploaded to the submission platform.

Editors and reviewers must inform the editorial office of any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from evaluating the manuscript when such conflicts compromise their impartiality, ensuring the integrity and transparency of the editorial process.

Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão (PCP) performs similarity checks on manuscripts during the editorial evaluation process. The journal does not adopt a fixed similarity percentage to define plagiarism; instead, each manuscript is analyzed individually, considering the context and nature of the identified similarities.

When significant similarities are detected, the manuscript may be returned for adjustments, submitted for clarification, or rejected, depending on the severity of the case and in compliance with scientific integrity standards.

Artificial intelligence does not meet the requirements of Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão for authorship of a scientific article, given the necessity of accountability. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) cannot be listed as authors on any submitted manuscript.

The editorial team of Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão, as well as authors publishing in the journal, must always observe the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines. The SAGER guidelines comprise a set of instructions that guide the reporting of sex and gender information in study design, data analysis, results, and interpretation of findings. Additionally, the journal observes a gender equity policy in the formation of its editorial board.

Although there is currently no widely standardized and disseminated guide on racial and ethnic equity in scientific research equivalent to SAGER, Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão advises authors, editors, and reviewers on the relevance of considering race and ethnicity information in study design, data analysis, and the presentation, interpretation, and discussion of results.

In this perspective, it is recommended that, whenever relevant to the object of investigation, research should consider and explicitly state how racial/ethnic categories were defined and collected, as well as justify their analytical use-or lack thereof-avoiding approaches that naturalize or biologize such categories. The presentation of disaggregated data and the discussion of findings in light of the racial inequalities that permeate knowledge production and the living conditions of the Brazilian population are also encouraged.

Furthermore, the journal observes principles of ethnic-racial equity in the composition and renewal of its editorial board and pool of reviewers, seeking to promote editorial practices committed to theoretical, methodological, and epistemological diversity in scientific communication.

Authors must attach a statement of approval from the ethics committee of the institution responsible for approving the research. In case of doubt regarding the documentation presented, the journal may reject the article.

Authors of articles published by Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão retain the copyright of their work, licensing it under the Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 license, which allows articles to be reused and distributed without restriction, provided the original work is correctly cited. Copyright of the published manuscripts remains the property of the authors, who grant the right of first publication to the PCP journal.

The editors reserve the right to make textual adjustments and adapt the articles to the publication's standards. The PCP journal accepts articles and publications in the field of knowledge production and professional practices in psychology, interfacing with other themes present in the context of professional psychological development.

1. Theoretical Study – The journal requires that theoretical studies in various fields of knowledge contribute to the deepening of a theme or concept, presenting a theoretical debate that maps the state of the art and culminates in points suggesting a critical and innovative perspective in the field of psychology and its interfaces. Literature review articles that only mention the positions of other authors on concepts and theories, or that merely research/survey themes in databases, will not be accepted. Length: 20 to 25 pages (excluding abstracts and references).
2. Research Report – Original investigations of scientific relevance based on empirical materials. It is necessary to explicitly state the theoretical-methodological foundations, analyses, and discussions resulting from the research. Length: 20 to 25 pages (excluding abstracts and references).
3. Experience Report – Reports of experiences related to professional intervention that contribute to psychological practices. Length: 20 to 25 pages (excluding abstracts and references).

Upon submission, the contribution of each author must be specified in the Letter to the Editors-in-Chief, identifying their roles in: Problematization and Conceptualization; Analysis; Writing; and Final Approval.

According to COPE's Guidelines for Authors, authorship should only be attributed to those who:

• a) contribute intellectually, directly, and substantially to the conception of the research/article (acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the presented data);
• b) participate in the drafting of preliminary versions or the critical review of the article's content;
• c) take responsibility for the authorship in order to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the article.

General Rules

Text submitted to PCP must not have been published in another venue (journal, book, etc.) and may not be simultaneously submitted to or published in any other scientific or research outlet.

All submissions must follow the APA Publication Manual: American Psychological Association. (2010). Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.). Washington, DC: Author, regarding text presentation style and the ethical aspects inherent to scientific work. Any omission in the details below implies that APA guidelines prevail.

Authors will be automatically notified of the receipt of the text and can track the electronic publishing process using their username and password. The editorial process will only begin once all authors are registered on the Journal's website with their respective emails.

General Criteria for Manuscript Evaluation:

1. Works may be written in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French, and must include titles and abstracts in Portuguese, English, and Spanish;
2. Double-spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12, 2.54 cm (1 inch) margins, text left-aligned;
3. Files must be submitted in .doc or .docx format;
4. Tables and figures (graphs and images) must be included in the body of the text and must be in an editable format. Appendices are not accepted;
5. Pages must not be numbered;
6. The Title must be up to 12 words, centered, bolded, and in Title Case (uppercase and lowercase letters);
7. The title must explicitly state the phenomenon(a) studied and its relationship to the research context;
8. The Abstract must correspond to the development of the text, contain 150 to 250 words, and include 3 to 5 keywords for each language version;
9. References and citation formats must strictly follow APA Standards (6th ed., 2010); publication manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.). Washington, DC: Author);
10. Direct Citations: If a quote or interview excerpt contains fewer than 40 words, incorporate it into the text using double quotation marks. If it contains 40 words or more, present it in a separate block of text and omit the quotation marks;
11. Consistency: All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all authors listed in the references must be cited in the text;
12. All URLs included in the text must be active and ready for immediate access.
13. Authors and co-authors who have an article under evaluation cannot submit a new one until an editorial decision has been reached.
14. All authors and co-authors must have their ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) registered in their SciELO profile. If you do not have an ORCID, register at https://orcid.org/register.
15. Authors who do not hold a full degree in Psychology or related fields must have a co-author who holds at least an undergraduate degree

Manuscripts will be evaluated for compliance with the journal's submission guidelines. In case of errors in the submission process, authors will be notified and the manuscript archived; a new submission will be at the authors' discretion.

 Manuscripts approved in the first stage will be evaluated by the Editorial Board regarding their alignment with the journal’s scope. The board may consult the Advisory Board for this purpose. In case of dissonance, the text may be archived and the authors notified.

Manuscripts approved in the previous stages will be submitted for evaluation by ad hoc reviewers through a double-blind process (author identity is withheld). Following this evaluation, the manuscript may be rejected, returned for revisions, or accepted for publication. In all cases, authors will be notified of the decision.

Manuscript Submission Procedures

Authors must adhere to the following submission specifications:

Original texts and all required documents must be submitted via the SciELO Platform, following the author's registration on the Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão journal page.

Under no circumstances will documents sent via email be accepted.

Supplementary files (Letter to the Editors-in-Chief, Title Page, and Ethics Committee Approval) must be uploaded to the SciELO Platform as "Supplementary Documents."

1) Letter to the Editors-in-Chief

Authors must formalize their agreement to publish with Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão through a letter signed by all authors, scanned, and uploaded in PDF format as a "Supplementary Document," meeting the following requirements:

• a) The letter must be signed by all authors;
• b) Identify the type of text (as specified in "Form and Preparation of Texts");
• c) Declare that the text is original, unpublished, and has not been submitted or published elsewhere;
• d) Provide the Ethics Committee approval or declare that ethical research procedures were followed. The Editorial Board may request documents related to current regulations (Resolution CONEP No. 466/2012 and/or No. 510/2016). Do not include Ethics Committee details in the body of the manuscript to maintain anonymity;
• e) Specify the contribution of each author in the conception and execution of the research and/or the drafting of the manuscript.

2) Title Page

The Title Page must be submitted as a "Supplementary Document" and must contain:

• Title in Portuguese (maximum 12 words);
• Title in English;
• Title in Spanish;
• Running head (shortened title);
• Name, academic degree, institutional/professional affiliation, and ORCID number for each author;
• Authors' names as they should appear in citations;
• Full correspondence address for the contact author;
• Email address of the first author;
• Information regarding research funding from agencies, when applicable.

Note: If the article has more than 4 authors, the specific contribution of each must be detailed.

3) Formal Presentation of the Text

The original manuscripts and all necessary documentation must be submitted exclusively via the SciELO Platform after the author has registered on the Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão .

No documents will be accepted via email under any circumstances.

To ensure a blind review, authors are responsible for removing any form of authorship identification from the text.

Authors will be automatically notified of the receipt of the manuscript and can track the electronic publishing process using their username and password. The editorial process will only begin once all authors are registered on the Journal's website with their respective emails.

There are no fees for submission or evaluation of articles.

Illustrations included in the manuscripts must be presented in high resolution. Figures, photos, and scanned images must have a minimum of 300 dpi. Tables, figures, and charts (graphs and images) must be included in the body of the text and must be in an editable format. Appendices are not accepted.

References and citation formats must follow the APA Publication Manual: American Psychological Association. (2010). Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.). Washington, DC: Author.

Works with multiple authors:
Two authors: Cite both names every time the work is referred to in the text, followed by the date in parentheses. Use & when cited inside parentheses.
"The method proposed by Siqueland and Delucia (1969)", but "the method was initially proposed for the study of vision (Siqueland & Delucia, 1969)".
Three or more authors: Cite only the surname of the first author followed by "et al." and the date.
Citations of old or reprinted works: Cite the author and both the original and consulted publication dates.
