RESUMO As características excludentes do modelo de desenvolvimento capitalista na América Latina podem se manifestar em dois fatores principais: baixos níveis de salários, que forçam os trabalhadores a viver na pobreza, e a marginalização de uma parte da população que não consegue sequer igualar o nível de salário dos trabalhadores. Este artigo tem a intenção de analisar a evolução do setor industrial no Brasil à luz de tais fatos.

ABSTRACT The excluding characteristics of the capitalist development model in Latin America can be manifested in two main factors: low levels of wages, which force workers to live in poverty, and the marginalization of a part of the population who cannot even match the level of wage from workers. This paper has the intention to analyze the evolution of in the industrial sector in Brazil in light of such facts.

RESUMO A crise atual da economia brasileira segue o mesmo padrão daquelas que ela vem enfrentando desde a década de 1930, quando o país iniciou sua industrialização, ou seja, um relevante desajuste estrutural dos polos ocioso e anti-ocioso. É assim que os ciclos de Juglar vêm ocorrendo nesta economia. Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar como o setor financeiro é capaz ou não de suportar a superação da crise e como reformá-lo tornaria mais fácil para a economia brasileira se tornar mais resiliente diante da crise.

ABSTRACT The current crisis of the Brazilian economy follows the same pattern of those it has been going through since the 1930s when the country started its industrialization, that is, a relevant structural lack of adjustment of the idle and anti-idle poles. This is the way the Juglar cycles have been occurring in this economy. This paper aims to investigate how the financial sector is capable or not to support the overcoming of crisis and how reforming it would make it easier for the Brazilian economy to become more resilient in face of crisis.

RESUMO Países subdesenvolvidos podem ser geralmente avaliados como aqueles com baixa diversificação e uma economia com um forte setor agrícola, um setor de serviços que é dependente da agricultura e uma indústria incipiente. Isso levou muitas pessoas a pensar que tais países teriam um “destino” de se manterem especializados em tal setor. Este artigo analisa a história do setor agrícola no Brasil e as condições internas e externas que levaram ao seu desenvolvimento, bem como faz uma análise da relevância dos movimentos populacionais que afetam as fronteiras agrícolas do Brasil.

ABSTRACT Underdeveloped countries can be generally assessed as those with low diversification and an economy with a strong agricultural sector, a services sector that is dependent on the agricultural and an incipient industry. This has led many people to think such countries would have a “destiny” to keep specialized in such sector. This paper reviews the history of the agricultural sector in Brazil and the internal and external conditions that led to its development as well as give an analysis of the relevance of population movements that affect the agricultural frontiers of Brazil.

RESUMO Este artigo reconstrói a política econômica implementada pelo governo brasileiro entre 1974 e 1980, analisando os diferentes subperíodos ao longo do caminho e com foco especial nas tentativas de equilibrar o crescimento econômico, a dívida e o controle da inflação.
