Open-access On the path to excellence: Escola Anna Nery Revista de Enfermagem under the leadership of Dr. Ivone Evangelista Cabral and Dr. Antonio José de Almeida Filho

This editorial inaugurates a new phase in the management of the Escola Anna Nery Revista de Enfermagem, under the guidance of Dr. Marcelle Miranda da Silva, Associate Professor III at the Escola de Enfermagem Anna Nery, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. With confidence in the successes that await us in the future, we do not forget the paths we have traveled thus far. Therefore, we acknowledge the outstanding work of esteemed editors Dr. Ivone Evangelista Cabral, Editor-in-Chief (2014-2024), and Dr. Antonio José de Almeida Filho, Editor-in-Chief (2007-2016) and Associate Editor (2016-2024). Your efforts have been fundamental pillars in the construction and maintenance of the quality of the Escola Anna Nery Revista de Enfermagem.

Both, during their respective management periods, demonstrated visionary and activist leadership; your unwavering commitments were essential to the ongoing success of the journal, in the face of new challenges throughout this time.1 Your abilities to manage the editorial team, coordinate complex processes, and ensure excellence in each issue were truly admirable. The keen attention to detail and the capacity to make strategic decisions were vital in maintaining the scientific integrity, the relevance of the journal in the field of nursing, and its alignment with new requirements, such as the current move toward open science.

We highlight Dr. Ivone Evangelista Cabral's scientific expertise and dedication to research across various fronts in scientific publishing, including the Associação Brasileira de Editores Científicos (ABEC) and other important political spaces, as well as other prominent nursing journals.2 Dr. Ivone has achieved an significant platform and visibility both nationally and internationally, and her influence and recognition transcend borders, making her a respected voice and a reference in the field of nursing and scientific publishing. Her work not only enriched our publication, raising the standard of quality for published articles, but also contributed significantly to the advancement of science and nursing practice on a global scale.

To Dr. Antonio José de Almeida Filho, also with extensive experience in the field of research and scientific publishing, and occupying important roles in advocating for the interests of nursing science, we express our special gratitude throughout the period for your meticulous contributions to all journal processes. Your tenure as Associate Editor, with deliberative responsibilities representing this group of editors, adhered to the regulations of the Escola Anna Nery Revista de Enfermagem.
