Brief Background
|
In 1996, the Brazilian Association of Power Electronics (SOBRAEP) Deliberative Council proposed the release of an Open Journal, focused on Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, called Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics). The first issue of the journal Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) was released in June 1996 (vol. 1, n. 1), with the main objective of disseminating the national researche in the field of Power Electronics, considering academic and the productive/industrial agents. Major transformations were accomplished from 2003, both in terms of formatting, and, mainly, implementing a fully electronic system to submit and analyze papers for the Open Journal of Power Electronics, called iSOBRAEP system. The goal of increasing the visibility of the Open Journal of Power Electronics has become feasible with the development of the iSOBRAEP system, and with the transformation of the publication mainly to the electronic form, Open Access, distributed over the Internet, it was intended to increase the visibility of the Open Journal of Power Electronics, increasing its impact factor in bibliographical references. In 2018, the submission system was moved to the well-known ScholarOne Manuscripts and a new website was built, including the Journal database. Another improvement was the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) attribution to all published papers by the Open Journal of Power Electronics since its first edition in 1996. Since December 2023, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) uses the CC BY 4.0, and since January of 2024 the frequency of publication was changed and it is published continuously. Besides, Our editorial policy follows the research communication in the Open Science modus operandi. |

Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics), published by SOBRAEP, is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution, using an open license (Creative Commons Attribution - CC-BY 4.0). Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative- BOAI definition of open access. |

Ethics in Publication

Before submitting the research, the authors must ensure they have followed all ethical guidelines regarding scientific integrity. They must also disclose any funding sources, such as research agencies. If applicable, the author must declare that the ethical principles were submitted to and approved by the institution's ethics committee. The author is solely responsible for complying with good ethical practices in research. When the manuscript involves procedures with human beings, or LGPD-sensitive data, authors must attach an approval statement from the ethics committee of the institution responsible for approving the research. |

Digital Preservation
|
This Journal follows the standards defined in the SciELO Program's Digital Preservation Policy program. Besides, the article files are preserved by storing them in LOCKSS (supported by PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)) and in the SOBRAEP server. Furthermore, the metadata are preserved in Crossref by DOI. |

In line with the Open Science movement, the publication supports the use of preprint servers and accepts manuscripts previously deposited on trusted servers such as SciELO Preprints: https://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/user/register The article must be submitted through the ScholarOne Manuscripts system, using the link SUBMIT A MANUSCRIPT. Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare the manuscripts using the templates, access the Journal Templates. All articles, including those previously made available as preprints, will be subject to the same peer review process applied to manuscripts submitted directly to the journal. The text previously published in preprint must be correctly cited, and this information needs to be informed in the submission process. Besides, we recommend that authors verify that they effectively hold the copyright of the text. |
Peer Review Process
|
It is recommend three reviewers, and in special conditions at least two reviewers, are assigned by the Associate Editor on each manuscript based on their technical expertise. The journal adopts single-blinded peer review (anonymous peer review). The decision is taken based on the reviewers recommendation which the manuscript receives during the review process.
The peer review carried by the Journal follows the Ethical Guidelines of COPE. The main points are:
Peer-Review workflow: In line with Open Science communication practices, the Journal can open the peer review process, if required by the correspondent author and in agreement with the reviewer. Besides, the final version of the approved article will be published with the name of the Associate Editor responsible for the manuscript evaluation process. |

Our editorial policy follows the research communication in the Open Science modus operandi. The journal encourages the sharing of the measurements, analysis datasets, instruments, statistical analysis scripts, and additional materials, made available at Open online repositories, such as Guide to promoting the opening, transparency and reproducibility of research published by SciELO Journals and this information must be indicated in the manuscript. As a result, manuscripts that communicate research should indicate and reference the availability of the contents underlying the elaboration of the research and the results obtained. Fees
|
Papers submitted for publication to the Open Journal of Power Electronics should have, preferably, eight pages. Papers with a higher number of pages (more than eight) must pay an overlength page charge before its publication. Publication and overlength page charges are shown in the following table: The publication fees for the journal vary based on the corresponding author's affiliation with SOBRAEP. For effective and student SOBRAEP members with no late payments, publication is free of charge, though an additional fee of R$ 250,00 per extra page applies to papers with more than eight pages. Non-members, as well as SOBRAEP members with late payments, are required to pay a publication fee of R$ 300,00, in addition to the same extra page fee of R$ 250,00. |

They should be communicated not only by the authors, but by everyone involved in the editorial process of a manuscript. Editors and reviewers should avoid making decisions about manuscripts that conflict with their own interests, such as those submitted by authors in their department or research collaborators.

All accepted manuscripts will be screened for Similarity Check software - Powered by iThenticate. The authors who submit manuscripts with more than 20% of duplicated or similar content, excluding the reference text, will be notified asking for text revision by the Editorial-in-Chief. |
Adoption of Software Using Artificial Intelligence Resources
|
Intelligence Artificial can be used as part of the research conducted if clearly stated in the paper. The use of IA for writing the paper or part of it is denied in the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics). IA may be used just as a tool to help the text revision, but always with human verification. |
Gender and Sex Issues

The Editorial Team of the Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) Journal, in addition to the authors who publish in the journal, must always observe the guidelines on Sex and Gender Equity in Research – SAGER. The SAGER guidelines comprise a set of guidelines that guide the reporting of information about sex and gender in study design, data analysis, and results and interpretation of findings. |

Types of Documents Accepted

Full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) requires that authors publish all experimental controls and make full datasets available when possible. The author must inform if it is a preprint and if so, the Name of the Preprint server, and Preprint DOI; whether the contents underlying the manuscript text are already available in their entirety and without restrictions at the time of publication. Manuscripts submitted to Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) should not be under consideration for publication in another journal. The main article types are listed below, and a comprehensive list of article types can be found here—please note that not all article types are available for all disciplines. Original paper: These are original research manuscripts. The work should report scientifically sound experiments and provide a substantial amount of new information. The article should include the most recent and relevant references in the field. Review paper: Reviews offer a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature within a field of study, identifying current gaps or problems. They should be critical and constructive and provide recommendations for future research. No new, unpublished data should be presented.
Special section: Researchers can propose for the Editorial Board Special Sections in topics that are in the vanguard of the acknowledgment. It is necessary at least two Guest Editors to submit a propose for the Editor-in-Chief (editor@sobraep.org.br) describing the Title of the Special Issue, the main topics that will accept and the deadlines to submission. Contributions to the Special Section are subject to peer review and benefit from comments and editorial guidance from the guest editors. Letters: Should be concise, focusing on a specific, noteworthy aspect of power electronics. They can discuss recent advancements and introduce new ideas briefly. Letters are shorter than full papers, limited to 4 pages (including the final version). |

Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) endorses the CRediT taxonomy (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) and asks the authors to provide detailed information about individual contributions to the work. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that all authors' contributions are correct, and it is expected that all authors will have reviewed, discussed, and agreed to their contributions as shared by the submitting author. Digital Assets
|
Format and save your graphics using a suitable graphics processing program that will allow you to create the images as PostScript (PS), Encapsulated PostScript (.EPS), Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF), Portable Document Format (.PDF), or Portable Network Graphics (.PNG) sizes them, and adjusts the resolution settings. If you created your source files in one of the following programs you will be able to submit the graphics without converting to a PS, EPS, TIFF, PDF, or PNG file: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel. Though it is not required, it is strongly recommended that these files be saved in PDF format rather than DOC, XLS, or PPT. Doing so will protect your figures from common font and arrow stroke issues that occur when working on the files across multiple platforms. When submitting your final paper as .DOCX or .DOC format, your graphics should all be submitted individually in one of these formats along with the manuscript. Most charts, graphs, and tables are one column wide (3.5 inches / 88 millimeters) or page wide (7.16 inches / 181 millimeters). The maximum depth a graphic can be is 8.5 inches (216 millimeters). When choosing the depth of a graphic, please allow space for a caption. Figures can be sized between column and page widths if the author chooses, however it is recommended that figures are not sized less than column width unless when necessary.
Figure axis labels are often a source of confusion. Use words rather than symbols. As an example, write the quantity “Magnetization,” or “Magnetization M ,” not just “M .” Put units in parentheses. Do not label axes only with units. As in Fig. 1, for example, write “Magnetization (A/m)” or “Magnetization (A m−1),” not just “A/m.” Do not label axes with a ratio of quantities and units. For example, write “Temperature (K),” not “Temperature/K.”
Multipart figures should be combined and labeled before final submission. Labels should appear centered below each subfigure in 8 point Times New Roman font in the format of (a) (b) (c). |
Citations and References
|
All the references must be in accordance with the IEEE References Guide, and for consistency, we recommend using units, symbols, and abbreviations in accordance with IEEE Standard. Number citations consecutively in square brackets [1]. The sentence punctuation follows the brackets [2]. Multiple references [2], [3] are each numbered with separate brackets [1]–[3]. When citing a section in a book, please give the relevant page numbers [2]. In sentences, refer simply to the reference number, as in [3]. Do not use “Ref. [3]” or “reference [3]” except at the beginning of a sentence: “Reference [3] shows ... .” Give all authors’ names; do not use “et al.” unless there are six authors or more. Use space after authors’ initials. Papers that have not been published should be cited as “unpublished” [4]. Papers that have been accepted for publication, but not yet specified for an issue should be cited as “to be published” [5]. Papers that have been submitted for publication should be cited as “submitted for publication” [6]. Papers published should be cited as [7] or [8]. For all the papers that present a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), this information must be included in the reference.
