Trata-se neste artigo de mostrar como se dá a recepção de alguns elementos da filosofia schopenhaueriana, como a oposição entre intelecto e vontade, na literatura de Machado de Assis. Com efeito, examinado o conto "Noite de almirante", pode-se dizer que a personagem Genoveva faz as vezes da vontade, ao passo que Deolindo é guiado pelo intelecto.

This paper deals with the reception of some elements of Schopenhauerian philosophy, such as the oposition between intellect and will, in the literature of Machado de Assis. Indeed, if we examine the short story "Noite de almirante", we can see that the character Genoveva represents the will, while Deolindo is guided by the intellect.

Este artigo investiga, sob a perspectiva de uma estética do efeito, as origens da assim chamada "estética da época de Goethe", segundo a obra de Lessing, Winckelmann e Herder. Pretende-se mostrar que há nestes autores tanto uma influência do parâmetro do efeito, suscitado pela obra de arte no espectador, quanto o apontamento para uma instância, por assim dizer crítica, idealista e especulativa de apreciação do fenômeno artístico.

We analyse in this article, from the point of view of an aesthetics of the effect, the sources of the so called "aesthetics of Goethe's time", according to the works of Lessing, Winckelmann and Herder. Our aim is to show that there are in those authors both an influence of the parameter of the effect, elicited by the work of art on the spectactor, and the pointing to a dimension, so to speak critical, idealistic and speculative of appreciation of the artistic phenomenon.

Una indagación a partir de la idea general de historia formulada por Vico sirve de cauce para reinterpretar el modo como Marx trata la noción general de historia, entendiéndola no como continuidad de unos sistemas productivos por otros, sino como génesis de las condiciones de unos en los elementos integrantes de otros. Se señala que Althusser ha sido el primer marxista en comprender esa complejidad y en abordar el carácter compuesto del tiempo histórico en Marx. Se cierra con una pequeña reflexión en torno a la peculiaridad de la "idea de tiempo" y a su construcción

Abstract in English:

An inquiry from Vico's formulation of the general idea of history leads to a reinterpretation of the way Marx deals with the general notion of "history", which is not understood as the linear continuity of different production systems, but as the genesis of some systems' conditions from others' integral elements. It is singled out that Althusser has been the first Marxist who fully understood this complexity and the first who undertook the composite character of Marx's historical time. The article closes on some reflections on the singularity of the "Idea of Time" and its construction.

O objetivo deste artigo consiste em examinar a obra do primeiro Habermas, anterior à virada lingüística, localizada a partir dos estudos preparatórios à Teoria da ação comunicativa. Pretende-se investigar o ensaio "Trabalho e interação", de 1967, no qual Habermas, discutindo com Lukács, procura legitimar sua concepção de história como evolução emancipatória do homem enquanto ser genérico a partir de textos de Hegel, do período de Iena, até mesmo sugerindo uma releitura do jovem Marx.

The objective of the article is to examine the work of the "early Habermas" prior to the linguistic turn, localized in the preparatory studies at the Theorie des kommunikativen Handels and later works. We intend to investigate the essay Arbeit und Interaktion, of 1967, in which Habermas, discussing with Lukács, aims to legitimate his conception of history as emancipatory evolution of man as generic being, from Hegel's texts in Jena's time, besides suggesting a new reading of the young Marx.

Este artigo expõe elementos da doutrina epistemológica de Charles S. Peirce (1839-1914), denominada Falibilismo. Procura-se evidenciar como tal doutrina se desenvolve do interior de teorias metafísicas do autor, a exemplo de seu Evolucionismo e da estrutura categorial da Realidade, formando um dueto com sua concepção ontológica de Acaso. Em verdade, o Falibilismo configurar-se-á como a doutrina que é conseqüência do indeterminismo de dupla face de Peirce, a saber, simultaneamente ontológico e epistemológico.

Abstract in English:

This paper intends to expose elements of a Charles S. Peirce's epistemological doctrine, called by him Falibilism. The aim is to show how this doctrine emerge itself from the author's metaphysical theories, like his Evolutionism and categorical structure of Reality, forming a duet with his ontological conception of Chance. In fact, the Falibilism will be considered as the doctrine that is consequence of the Peirce's doble face indeterminism, i.e., at same time ontological and epistemological.

Trata-se de uma investigação histórica da neurologia alemã das primeiras décadas do século XIX, representada por Burdach e Carus, e da relação que manteve com pressupostos românticos de abordagem biológica. Carus acentua a necessidade de pesquisar o cérebro pelo viés anatômico e o considera um organismo total, atestando a influência do filósofo Schelling. Burdach, por seu lado, investiga a estrutura cerebral em conexão com a sensibilidade e o processo evolutivo.

The subject is a historical investigation of German neurology from the first decades of the nineteen century, represented by Burdach and Carus, and its relation to the romantic presuppositions of the biological approach. Carus accentuates the necessity of an anatomical research of the brain and considers a total organism, attesting the influence of Schelling's philosophy. Burdach, for his part, investigates the cerebral structure in conexion with sensibility and with the evolutionary process.
