RESUMO O objetivo do texto é propor uma chave de leitura para indagar a atuação do setor empresarial no âmbito das políticas sociais. Quais foram as condições de possibilidade para a afirmação do protagonismo do empresariado na gestão da pobreza? Como o enfrentamento da questão social via investimentos sociais lucrativos tem se legitimado no país? Os argumentos expostos, de caráter exploratório, articulam uma bibliografia dispersa com o intuito de despertar o interesse por questões pouco exploradas no âmbito da pesquisa em ciências sociais.

ABSTRACT The objective of the text is to propose a reading key to investigate the role of the business sector within the scope of social policies. What were the conditions of possibility for the affirmation of the leading role of business in poverty management? How has tackling social issues via profitable social investments become legitimized in the country? The arguments presented, of an exploratory nature, articulate a scattered bibliography with the aim of awakening interest in issues little explored within the scope of research in social sciences.

RESUMO Este artigo é um estudo sobre Os fornos quentes, romance autobiográfico do ex-guerrilheiro Reinaldo Guarany Simões, que cobre seu exílio na Alemanha Ocidental nos anos 1970 ao lado de sua companheira, a também ex-guerrilheira Maria Auxiliadora Lara Barcelos, que ali veio a falecer. Articulam-se aqui as noções de sobrevivência (AGAMBEN, 2008) e melancolia (AGAMBEN, 2007; FREUD, 1992), objetivando entrever, na escritura do livro, certo esforço de apagamento do sobrevivente, o próprio Guarany Simões, e a correspondente iluminação de Maria Auxiliadora, vítima das mazelas inerentes ao exílio (BOYM, 2017; SAID, 2003).

ABSTRACT This article is a study on Os fornos quentes by the ex-guerrilla fighter Reinaldo Guarany Simões, an autobiographical novel about his experience in West Germany in the 1970s, where he lived with his companion, Maria Auxiliadora Lara Barcelos, also a former guerrilla fighter who died there. We articulated notions of survival (AGAMBEN, 2008) and melancholy (AGAMBEN 2007; FREUD, 1992), trying to capture the writer’s effort to erase the survivor, Guarany Simões himself, and the corresponding illumination of Maria Auxiliadora, victim of the toils of the exile (BOYM, 2017; SAID, 2003).

RESUMO Este artigo aborda a trajetória do escultor e fundidor Roque de Mingo (1890-1972), atuante em São Paulo nas primeiras décadas do século XX. Nossa proposta é analisar como esse personagem se inseriu no campo artístico paulistano de maneira inicialmente alheia às instituições acadêmicas - na qualidade de fundidor artístico - até, paulatinamente, alcançar posições de poder dentro desse circuito. Nossa hipótese é que a trajetória desse escultor-fundidor é reveladora das expectativas e dos conflitos vividos por esses atores que, devido à sua origem social mais humilde, precisaram se aproximar do universo artístico na qualidade de artífices - o que lhes garantiria uma renda imediata, e, ao mesmo tempo, contato frequente com artistas e com a prática da escultura.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the career of the sculptor and foundryman Roque de Mingo (1890-1972), who was active in São Paulo in the first decades of the 20th century. The text seeks to examine how he entered the artistic field in a way that was initially alien to academic institutions - as an artistic foundryman - until he gradually reached positions of power within this circuit. Our hypothesis is that the trajectory of this sculptor-foundryman reveals the expectations and conflicts experienced by these actors who, due to their humble social origins, had to approach the artistic world as craftsmen. In this way, they could guarantee an immediate income and, at the same time, frequent contact with artists and the practice of sculpture.

ABSTRACT The text presents the reproduction of some paintings by Renato Castanhari exposed at the Pilar Gallery (São Paulo), from March 30 to May 25, 2024, in his second solo show, Wavering, which deals with the material and formal possibilities of this artistic language, revealing images that vacillate between geometric abstraction and informal landscapes.

RESUMO O presente ensaio toma como objeto o manuscrito recém-descoberto “Os filhos da coruja”, datado de 1923 e assinado por J. Calisto, um dos pseudônimos empregados por Graciliano Ramos. Trata-se de uma narrativa em versos que reconta uma fábula recolhida pelo celebrado escritor francês La Fontaine. Depois de abordar a materialidade do documento, recuperar a tradição de publicação dessa história no Brasil e tecer considerações a respeito da alcunha utilizada pelo autor alagoano, o artigo se vale de dados da biografia e da obra dele para lançar hipótese interpretativa sobre o texto em diálogo com proposta de Paulo Freire.

ABSTRACT This essay focuses on the recently discovered manuscript “Os filhos da coruja” (“The children of the owl”), dated of 1923 and signed by J. Calisto, one of the pseudonyms used by Graciliano Ramos. It is a narrative in verse that retells a fable collected by the celebrated French writer La Fontaine. After analyse the materiality of the document, recovering the tradition of publishing this story in Brazil and making considerations about the nom de plume used by Graciliano Ramos, this article uses data from his biography and work to present an interpretative hypothesis about the text in dialogue with Paulo Freire’s proposal.

RESUMO Trata-se de uma leitura ideológica da letra de uma canção de Chico Buarque, que apresenta um convite metafórico: restaurar uma situação de estrago, aludindo a um sofrimento imposto. A canção foca nessa contribuição fundamental dos afro-brasileiros, o samba, incidindo sobre locais tradicionalmente considerados seu berço - Valongo, Gamboa, Pedra do Sal - mas que, numa outra camada, são espaços de memória da escravidão. A análise aponta ainda uma outra camada, uma história de curta duração: o que pode estar por detrás da dor coletiva aludida, tendo como referente histórico recente a necropolítica bolsonarista.

ABSTRACT It is an ideological reading of a song by Chico Buarque, which presents a metaphorical invitation to restore a situation of damage, referring to an imposed suffering. The song focuses on this fundamental contribution of Afro-Brazilians, the samba, focusing on places traditionally considered their birthplace - Valongo, Gamboa, Pedra do Sal - but which, in another layer, are spaces of memory of Slavery. The analysis also shows another layer, which would concern a short-lived history, pointing out what may be behind the collective pain alluded to, having as a recent historical reference the Bolsonarist necro-politics.

RESUMO Trata-se de resenha a respeito da coletânea de contos Anos de chumbo e outros contos (2021), de Chico Buarque. Cantor, compositor e ficcionista, ganhador do Prêmio Camões pelo conjunto de sua obra (2019), o autor estreia no gênero textual curto. Se o título do conjunto remete a nosso passado traumático, a tessitura narrativa acaba por revelar sobretudo sua contemporaneidade.

ABSTRACT This is the literary review of Chico Buarque’s collected short stories Anos de chumbo e outros contos (2021). Singer, song writer and writer, winner of Camões Prize for his overall work (2019), he starts in short textual genre. If the title of this work refers to our traumatic past, the narrative fabric reveals specially its contemporary traces.

RESUMO Em 1967, Chico Buarque já era considerado ídolo nacional aclamado pelo público brasileiro. Se isso lhe garantiu um lugar privilegiado na indústria fonográfica e televisiva, por outro lado era fonte de grande frustração artística e profissional. Com apenas 23 anos, tomou uma decisão arriscada e convidou o diretor José Celso Martinez Corrêa para dirigir seu primeiro texto dramatúrgico. Sob vários aspectos, Roda viva é uma referência na história do teatro brasileiro e também na trajetória dos artistas da sua geração. Para analisá-la, tomamos como ponto de partida a ideia de arte como testemunho sob múltiplas dimensões (texto, cena e crítica teatral).

ABSTRACT In 1967, Chico Buarque was already considered a national idol acclaimed by the Brazilian public. While this guaranteed him a privileged place in the phonographic and television industry, it was also a source of great artistic and professional frustration. At just 23 years old, he made a risky decision and invited director José Celso Martinez Corrêa to direct his first dramaturgical text. In many ways, Roda viva is a milestone in the history Brazilian theater and also in the trajectory the artists of its generation. To analyze it, we take as our starting point the idea of art as testimony in multiple dimensions (text, scene and theater criticism).

RESUMO O artigo apresenta uma visão de conjunto da obra literária de Chico Buarque desde os anos 1990, focalizando a representação e a estilização da experiência social contemporânea. Destaca-se, no curso histórico subjacente, um processo de fragmentação e despolitização da sociedade como um todo, cujos efeitos são elaborados em configurações ficcionais particulares.

ABSTRACT This paper presents a synoptic overview of Chico Buarque’s literary work since the 1990s, and focuses on the representation and stylization of contemporary social experience. It emphasizes, in the underlying historical course, a process of fragmentation and de-politicization of society as a whole, the effects of which are worked out in particular fictional configurations.

RESUMO O objetivo principal deste artigo é examinar os sentidos da canção “As vitrines”, de Chico Buarque (1981). O trabalho retoma textos críticos que interpretaram a canção, mas propõe uma chave de decifração original, extraída da própria forma da obra. Em perspectiva interdisciplinar e viés ensaístico, a análise mobiliza instrumentos da teoria literária, da musicologia e da teoria crítica, além de amparar-se em estudos radicados na historiografia e nas ciências sociais.

ABSTRACT The main aim of this article is to examine the meanings of the song “As vitrines”, by Chico Buarque (1981). The paper takes up critical texts that interpreted the song, but proposes an original deciphering key, extracted from the form of the work itself. With an interdisciplinary perspective and an essayistic bias, the analysis mobilizes tools from literary theory, musicology and critical theory, as well as drawing on studies rooted in historiography and the social sciences.

RESUMO Este artigo analisa o romance Essa gente (2019), de Chico Buarque, enquanto formulação de um dilema de identidade relativo à formação social brasileira. Discutem-se os temas da desfaçatez das classes intelectuais e o uso de categorias raciais como transposições de problemáticas típicas da obra de Buarque, a saber, a relação com o passado e o futuro em um processo histórico calcado em repetições e numa utopia frustrada, o embaralhamento entre ficção e realidade, e o dilema da relação entre “eu” e “outro”.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the novel Essa gente (2019), by Chico Buarque, as a formulation of an identity dilemma related to Brazil’s social formation. Themes such as the blatancy of the intellectual classes and the use of racial categories are discussed as transpositions of problems typical of Buarque’s work, namely the relationship with the past and the future in a historical process based on repetitions and a frustrated utopia, the shuffling between fiction and reality, and the dilemma of the relationship between “self” and “other”.

RESUMO O propósito deste texto é desenvolver o confronto de dois romances, narrados em primeira pessoa, Órfãos do Eldorado (2008), de Milton Hatoum, e Leite derramado (2009), de Chico Buarque, cujas vozes que conduzem os enredos não se apresentam como confiáveis. Pretendemos investigar os recursos hermenêuticos que perpassam a relação entre escrita e memória de dois imponentes autores contemporâneos das letras nacionais, considerando os mecanismos que envolvem a construção da inconfiabilidade de narradores-personagens imersos nas enfermidades da memória.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this text is to develop the confrontation of two novels narrated in the first person, Orphans of Eldorado (2008), by Milton Hatoum, and Spilt milk (2009), by Chico Buarque, whose voices that drive the plots do not present themselves as trustworthy. We investigated the hermeneutic resources that permeate the relationship between writing and memory of two imposing contemporary authors in national literature, considering the mechanisms that involve the construction of the unreliability of narrator-characters immersed in the illnesses of memory.

ABSTRACT Through the analysis of “Iracema voou” I seek to demonstrate how the song places a critical point of view on the process of immigration of Brazilians to the United States in a context of globalization and economic crisis in the country in the 90’s. I take it as a hypothesis that the Chico Buarque’s song redimensions the perspectives of Brazil as a nation and national identity.

RESUMO O dossiê Chico Buarque, 80 Anos tem por objetivo fazer um balanço crítico da obra do artista. Sete artigos e uma resenha abordam três frentes de atuação de Chico ao longo de mais de 50 anos de carreira: canção popular, literatura (romance e contos) e teatro. No conjunto, a pluralidade de métodos e abordagens denota uma exigência da própria matéria artística e das relações que ela mantém com o processo histórico brasileiro.

ABSTRACT The dossier Chico Buarque, 80 Years Old aims to take a critical look at the artist’s work. Seven articles and one review address three fronts of Chico’s work over a career of more than 50 years: popular song, literature (novels and tales) and theater. In the sum of the texts, the plurality of methods and approaches denotes a requirement of the artistic material itself and the relationship it maintains with the Brazilian historical process.
