Purpose: we consider extremely important studies of the laryngeal and phonation disorders found in stuttering. Taking into account the following aspects: Sound blockage, melody disturbance, changing in the pneumophonic between thorax and abdominal activities, long inhaling and exhaling, total interception of breathing, attempts to speak while breathing, changing alterations in intensity, posture, cervical tension with swollen neck veins and other symptoms. Also, we have researched about the activity of intrinsic laryngeal muscles and adductor and abductor laryngeal behavior when repetitions, blockage and prolongation. Besides, we notice that the adjustment of muscles needed in the phonation is slow when stuttering is concerned.
Methods: it was done a bibliographic research.
Results: according to the research on the bibliography made, most authors haven't come to a common sense about the increase of activity in the intrinsic laryngeal muscle during stuttering. Some authors say there is an increase of the level of laryngeal muscle activity, similar to the found in the protective laryngeal closure. All of them agree that there are perturbations in the adductor and abductor laryngeal control. Besides, the complex interaction of laryngeal system, articulations, breathing contribute to an inappropriate glottis adduction and abduction.
Conclusion: the glottis abduction has be associated to sound prolongation while the abduction mainly occurs during repetition and work break, perhaps, it occurs due to short period breathing, it also seen that during stuttering there is slow preparation of the vocal folds for phonation.
