Analyses proposal of performance and evolution in children with idiopathic stuttering

Purpose:  to present an exercise, based on the calculus of performance and evolution, of objective analyses of four cases with idiopathic stuttering.

Methods:  four children took part in this study, all male, with ages between 5 and 10 years, with the diagnosis of idiopathic stuttering. These participants were submitted to a 12 weeks stuttering treatment.

Results:  based on the calculus of performance and evolution, the results indicate that the treatment was effective for two of the children who presented an overall improvement. For one of the children there was no variation and for the other the treatment was not effective, in fact demonstrating deterioration.

Conclusion:  based on this exercise, the calculus of performance and evolution demonstrated to be a valuable instrument for the control of effectiveness and pertinence of a specific therapeutic procedure used with an individual.
