Open-access The Permanent Education Program in Workers’ Health: a report of experience

Introduction  The Unified Health System (SUS) is responsible for promoting continuing education in Workers’ Health for health professionals, in line with the National Policy for Continuing Education in Health.

Objective  To report on the experience of developing and implementing the Permanent Education Program in Workers’ Health (PEPSATT) and its results.

Methods  The experience of PEPSATT, promoted by the Ministry of Health from February 2021 to July 2023, was reported based on documents such as the Terms of Reference, Educational Matrices, and data from the Virtual Learning Environment.

Results  PEPSATT was based on the concept of Continuing Education in Health and the principles of andragogy, using Information and Communication Technologies in Health. A total of seven courses were developed, six of which were offered in distance learning mode, lasting from 20 to 180 hours. In total, the program registered 8,569 enrollees, of which 3,735 (43.6%) completed the courses.

Conclusion  The program strengthened health training in the field of Workers’ Health, promoting the expansion of teaching in the area and contributing to a comprehensive approach to health.
