Open-access A visit that remains - influences and developments in the Maeve Brennan’s novel

This article is a literary analysis of the first work by the Irish writer, Maeve Brennan: the novella The Visitor, possibly written in the 1940s and published posthumously in 1998. The article reflects on the novel's dialogue with the author's short stories. Lastly, the article considers possible relationships of intertextuality, such as with the novel The Uninvited (1941), by Dorothy Macardle, and with the short stories of Dubliners (1914), by James Joyce.
