Analysis of the scientific production of research groups Physical Education area in the Northern region of Brazil between 2017 and 2021

This study sought to quantify and qualitatively analyze the research groups in the North Region certified in the area of Physical Education. Documentary research in the databases of the CNPq platforms on the directory of research groups and Lattes, with the search being carried out in January, 2022. We searched for certified research groups in the area of Physical Education located in institutions in the northern region of Brazil and the full articles published in journals by the leader and co-leader in each of the groups between 2017 and 2021. All 42 research groups were from public higher education or technological institutions in all the states except Amapá. Most of the 977 productions were in the biomechanical and health areas, with low production in the pedagogical area.
