Open-access Youth Evangelization in the Light of Pope Francis: Foundations, Pathways, and Challenges

The article examines Pope Francis’s contribution to youth evangelization and its underlying challenges, highlighting two fundamental premises of his magisterium: freedom, understood as a divine gift that enables a mature response to God’s call, and belonging, understood as being rooted in the People of God and in their living memory. Based on these axes, the methodological elements that shape the renewal of Youth Ministry are examined: the centrality of kerygma; the vocational dimension and discipleship as a relationship with the Lord; mission linked to solidarity; synodality as active participation; and the popular perspective, which goes beyond structures to welcome. Accompaniment is highlighted as a constitutive axis of spiritual and community growth, and the digital environment as a space of presence and mission. It is concluded that Francis proposes an integral Youth Ministry, capable of forming young protagonists of an incarnate and missionary faith, which drives the renewal of ecclesial structures.
