WOMEN, HOMOPARENTING, THE PERIPHERY AND ITS WALLS

This article is part of the results obtained in a master's dissertation research. It aimed to understand how the experience of female homoparenthood occurs in a suburban neighborhood of a city in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre/RS, from the perspective of a family. In this article, we will discuss aspects related to gender, class and sexuality, shedding light on the walls that separate different social realities. The research participants are a homoparental family, made up of a couple of two women and their child. The qualitative method was conducted through active listening, inspired by ethnography and psychoanalysis. The results highlight the relationships between social class, female homosexuality and the social place occupied by women. We can conclude that the family faces subtle constraints in its life context, surrounded by high symbolic walls, despite the fragile border between the houses on the outskirts.
