Biopower, life and education Life has been recurrently taken as speech object. But how do we conceive this life that is so important for us? In this foucauldian-inspired text, we analyze the way life is stated in textbooks used in two schools located in the capital of a Brazilian state and we describe some forces that make these statements possible. First, we do not notice differences in the way books describe life. In addition, realizing a juxtaposition between the notions of life and body, we suggest that the books surveyed contribute to the education of students in a way of exercising power that is simultaneously individualizing and generalizing: the biopower.
