This study uses the Human Rights Education (HRE) theoretical framework to analyze the relation between xenophobia and racism against immigrant students. A qualitative research experiment was carried out in a municipal elementary school with a significant presence of immigrant students in the city of São Paulo. This research found that racism, associated with xenophobia (here referred to as racialized xenophobia), determines the chances of immigrant students being integrated into public schools. This discriminatory inequality poses a serious and urgent challenge for Human Rights Education, demanding a curricular practice that is expressly committed to overcoming this injustice in schools that receive immigrant students.
