Open-access Lucio Costa in Europe: The Role of Collections and the Brazilian Architecture

This article discusses the importance of architectural collections, based on the donation of the collection by architect Lucio Costa to the Casa da Arquitectura. It highlights Lucio Costa’s contribution to the country’s cultural formation; locates the strategic importance of collections for Western culture and its implications for Brazil; and presents some aspects of the relationship between the Brazilian institution and Brazilian architecture.
