UFRJ Sustainability Observatory: a digital environment of integrated communication

Higher education institutions seek to continually expand their commitment to sustainability, in the training of the student body, in research in environmental education, in actions with the community, etc., but these practices often lack integration. The objective of this study is to present a model of integrated communication for a university's sustainability actions, called the "Sustainability Observatory" (SO).This is a study applied to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), which involves: (i) collection of environmental performance data (UIGreenmetric – UIMG ranking methodology); (ii) survey of actions carried out or promoted by UFRJ; (iii) systematization of data on an online platform (OS); (iv) verification of users' perception of the OS. The research results showed that the systematization, recording and dissemination of information on a unified platform increases the visibility of the university's activities. In conclusion, it is an environment that supports institutional strategic planning.
