Artigos Navigating Between Fear and Distrust: Urban Mobility and Gender in the Use of Private Transportation Apps in Brazil Talho, Laura Abstract in Portuguese: RESUMO Este artigo analisa como mulheres motoristas e passageiras de aplicativos de transporte privado elaboram estratégias para lidar com a insegurança urbana no Brasil, marcado por altas taxas de violência de gênero. Abstract in English: ABSTRACT This article analyzes how women - both drivers and passengers - of private transportation apps develop strategies to cope with urban insecurity in Brazil, a country marked by high rates of gender-based violence. Based on semi-structured interviews, it is observed that while these digital platforms offer new conveniences, they also reinforce stigmas about places and people, as well as fuel mutual distrust between users and drivers. Thus, the technological mediation of these apps creates new forms of sociability, but also reproduces long-standing social dilemmas. |

Abstract in English: “Debates, Demands, and Opportunities”: The Impact of the Dynamics of the First Capital Command on the Incarceration of Women and LGBTQIA+ Individuals in the “Cadeia do Comando” Based on the narratives of twelve cisgender women, lesbians, and transgender men serving sentences at the women's prison Penitenciária Feminina de Sant’Anna — known as “Cadeia do Comando” — this article investigates how the mechanisms of the PCC operate. Abstract in English: Discrepancies Between Law and Practice in the Implementation of the Femicide Law: The Case of the São Paulo Civil Police This article aims to discuss how the São Paulo Civil Police has adapted, in institutional and organizational terms, to the implementation of the Femicide Law, and what barriers officers and police chiefs encounter in their daily work in ensuring the full implementation of the legislation. The results indicate that the act of classifying a woman’s violent death remains rooted in values and stereotypes that perpetuate gender inequality, such that professionals are reluctant to classify as femicide cases that do not result from lethal violence perpetrated by an intimate partner or family member. |

Artigos From the Barracks to the Far Right: An Analysis of the Moral Grammar of Pro-Bolsonaro Military Police Officers Camargos, Bruno Messenberg, Débora Abstract in Portuguese: O artigo apresenta os resultados de pesquisa empírica sobre o conteúdo das publicações veiculadas, no Facebook, pelos deputados federais e policiais militares (PMs) bolsonaristas eleitos em 2022, durante suas campanhas eleitorais. From the Barracks to the Far Right: An Analysis of the Moral Grammar of Pro-Bolsonaro Military Police Officers This article presents the results of empirical research on the content of posts published on Facebook by pro-Bolsonaro federal deputies and military police officers (PMs) elected in 2022 during their election campaigns. The analysis reveals that moral conservatism, punitive attitudes, leader worship, and anti-PT sentiment are the central semantic frameworks in their discourses. The content analysis suggests that there is no co-optation of military police officers by Bolsonarism, but rather the active participation ofthese actors in shaping this movement, to which the discourses of discrimination reproduced in the socialization processes of the military police contribute significantly. |

The prevailing view is that who we are depends on ourselves. The results indicate that the environment and social relationships do play a role in these developments. |

Abstract in English: ABSTRACT The way police interact with the public is central to the legitimacy of the police institution. If their treatment is perceived as fair and respectful, citizens are more likely to accept police decisions, cooperate, and recognize the legitimacy of the police. What makes police officers themselves feel confident and worthy of the moral right to exercise their authority (self-legitimacy) is also a focus of this study. Based on a review of the literature, we seek to assess the predictors and impacts of self-legitimacy among police forces in different countries and to present reflections that contribute to the debate in the Brazilian context. |

Artículos The Governance of Insecurity Through Patriarchy: The Masculinization of Public Space and the Invisibilization of Gender-Based Violence During the Cambiemos Administration (2015-2019) Casais, Pilar Fiuza Abstract in Portuguese: RESUMO Em 22 de novembro de 2015, o Cambiemos venceu as eleições presidenciais e pôs fim à longa década kirchnerista na Argentina. Abstract in English: ABSTRACT On November 22, 2015, Cambiemos won the presidential election, bringing an end to the long Kirchnerist decade in Argentina. In this paper, we analyze the “optical governance” of the security issue that unfolded during this new neoliberal political era. Thus, drawing on a theoretical framework that draws upon Foucaultian theory, we demonstrate that during this period, governing the security issue involved reinforcing a patriarchal logic that frames security as a problem of men-men who police and men who commit crimes-and that relegates gender-based violence to a secondary concern. |

Abstract in English: ABSTRACT This text presents a reflection on the social and psychological effects of adolescence spent deprived of the freedom to exist within a social network. This is the reality of boys serving socio-educational measures involving deprivation of liberty at a facility of the General Department of Socio-Educational Actions of Rio de Janeiro (Degase/RJ). The topic under investigation addresses the relationship between adolescence and delinquency, based on an examination of the post-incarceration trajectories of adolescents who have broken the law. The analysis is grounded in theoretical and methodological concerns arising from the intersection of psychoanalysis and socio-education, from which two findings regarding suffering within the socio-educational system emerge. |
