Resumo: O presente artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a gênese de O nascimento da tragédia a partir das leituras de Nietzsche dos escritos Lições sobre belas letras e Lições sobre arte dramática de August Schlegel. Tais leituras, iniciadas no período de estudos em Pforta, atravessam os primeiros anos de docência na Basileia até ganhar forma na primeira obra de Nietzsche. Pretende-se analisar esse percurso de leituras, a fim de elucidar o processo de formação da reflexão de Nietzsche no que diz respeito às questões centrais de sua primeira obra, tais como o apolíneo e o dionisíaco, a poesia épica e a poesia dramática.

Abstract: This article aims to reflect on the genesis of The Birth of Tragedy based on Nietzsche's readings of Lectures on Fine Art and Literatur and Lectures on Dramatic Art by August Schlegel. Such readings, begun during his studies in Pforta, span his first years lecturing in Basel until they ultimately took shape in Nietzsche's first work. The goal is to analyze this trek of readings, in order to encover the development process of Nietzsche's thinking regarding the central issues of his first work, such as the Apollonian and Dionysian, epic poetry and dramatic poetry.

Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é discutir o lugar ocupado por Platão em O nascimento da tragédia, levando em conta em que medida o posicionamento adotado por Nietzsche ali ecoaria também em suas Preleções sobre Platão, apresentadas entre 1871 e 1876 na Universidade da Basileia. Pretende-se analisar imagem de Platão como alguém que, por ser ao mesmo tempo filósofo e artista, nos permite problematizar as supostas fronteiras que separariam arte e filosofia, e pensar até que ponto a própria filosofia nascente na Grécia poderia ser caracterizada como uma forma de arte que nega a si mesma em seu interior.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to discuss the role played by Plato in The Birth of Tragedy and the extent to which Nietzsche's position in this work would have an echo in his Lectures on Plato, presented from 1871 to 1876 at the University of Basel. It analyzes Plato's image as someone who, being both a philosopher and an artist, allows us to bring into question the assumed boundaries between art and philosophy, while also making us think whether the arising philosophy in Greece could be thought of as a form of art that denies itself from within.

Resumo: Trata-se de apresentar uma conjectura sobre a relação entre este livro e o restante da obra de Nietzsche e indicar as linhas em que se pode desenvolvê-la. Nesse sentido, projetando uma leitura continuísta da obra, considera-se que O nascimento da tragédia traz consigo “sementes”, indícios e mesmo blocos inteiros de formulações que apontam as principais direções de pesquisa que o filósofo trabalhará durante a vida inteira. Vale dizer: ab ovo, o pensamento nietzschiano consistiria na exploração de intuições, temas e ideias já presentes desde sua estreia junto ao público, continuamente retomados segundo perspectivas diferentes, de modo a renderem tudo o que podem através da sucessão de suas reelaborações conceituais e poéticas.

Abstract: We intend to present a conjecture on the relation between this book and the rest of Nietzsche´s works and indicate the lines in which direction one may develop it. Thus, projecting a continuist reading of these works, we consider that The birth of tragedy brings in itself “seeds”, traces and even entire formulation blocks that indicate the main research ways to be followed by the philosopher along his whole life. That is: ab ovo, nietzschean thinking will consist of examination of intuitions, themes and ideas already present since his public debut, continuously resumed along different perspectives, so they could surrender all they can through this succession of their conceptual and poetic reworking.

Abstract: The article revisits the "Essay on Self-Criticism", written by Nietzsche as a late preface toThe Birth of Tragedy, in the 1886 edition. The intention is to show how his interpretation of the Dionysian concept reaches his mature works, among themEcce Homo,Beyond Good and EvilandThus Spoke Zarathustra, and how his self-criticism shows that the presence of Dionysus would never cease to occupy a decisive place in his thought.

Resumo: Neste artigo pretendemos sustentar a tese de que Nietzsche, desde sua primeira obra O nascimento da tragédia, até os seus últimos textos, como Crepúsculo dos ídolos, particularmente em O que eu devo aos antigos, propõe uma radical transvaloração do sentido do sofrimento humano. Ele adota uma perspectiva totalmente diferente das concepções metafísicas e religiosas ocidentais, que consideraram o sofrimento como uma objeção à vida, oriundo de culpas, de falhas, de “pecados”, que devem ser expiados através de inúmeros constrangimentos, até a inexorável morte. A transvaloração nietzschiana, com sua singular perspectiva trágica, inaugurada em O nascimento da tragédia e sustentada ao longo de toda sua obra, muito longe de considerar o sofrimento com uma objeção ou imperfeição da existência, o valoriza e até o exalta como outra modalidade do devir vital, consubstancial e inerente a toda afirmação, a todo prazer, a toda possibilidade de alegria.

Abstract: In this article we aim to support the thesis that Nietzsche, from his first work The Birth of Tragedy, to his last texts, such as Twilight of the Idols, in What I owe to the ancients, proposes a radical transvaluation of the meaning of suffering human. He adopts a completely different perspective from Western metaphysical and religious conceptions, which considered suffering as an objection to life, arising from faults, failures, “sins”, which must be expiated through countless constraints, until inexorable death. The nietzschean transvaluation, with its unique tragic perspective, inaugurated in The Birth of Tragedy and sustained throughout his entire work, far from considering suffering as an objection or imperfection of existence, values ​​it and even exalts it as another modality of becoming. vital, consubstantial and inherent in every affirmation, every pleasure, every possibility of joy.

Resumo: Neste artigo, pretendo apontar e analisar uma ambiguidade na noção de “justificação” presente na primeira obra de Nietzsche: O nascimento da tragédia. Essa ambiguidade diz respeito ao elemento psicológico e metafísico que permite que o mundo apareça como justificado mediante o processo de transfiguração, o ato de redenção e o estado de consolo metafísico, os quais se dão, seja pela descarga dos sofrimentos do Uno-primordial em aparências e imagens sublimatórias (o que ocorre pelo efeito do impulso apolíneo), seja pelo retorno ao seio materno da natureza através do rompimento do princípio de individuação (o que ocorre pelo efeito do dionisíaco). Através de uma análise de diferentes passagens em que os termos “justificação”, “redenção” e “consolo metafísico” aparecem no texto, pretendo mostrar que, num confronto com o pessimismo de Schopenhauer, Nietzsche elabora duas concepções distintas de justificação estética da existência, vinculadas a uma interpretação teleológica da natureza que admite um telos específico para cada um dos seus impulsos fundamentais.

Abstract: In this paper I will point out and analyze an ambiguity in the notion of “justification” in Nietzsche's first book: The Birth of Tragedy. This ambiguity concerns the psychological and metaphysical element that allows the world to appear as justified through the process of transfiguration, the act of redemption, and the state of metaphysical solace, which come about either by the discharge of the sufferings of the “Primordial-One” into sublimating appearances and images (which occurs by the effect of the Apollonian Drive), or by the return to the maternal heart of nature through the tearing-apart of the principle of individuation (which occurs by the effect of the Dionysian). An analysis of different passages in which the terms “justification”, “redemption” and “metaphysical solace” appear in the text will allow us to see that, in confrontation with Schopenhauer's pessimism, Nietzsche elaborates two distinct conceptions of aesthetic justification of existence, linked to a teleological interpretation of nature that admits a specific telos for each of its fundamental drives.

Resumo: O propósito geral do presente artigo é investigar o sentido e o alcance da noção de dissonância musical n’O nascimento da tragédia. Ao passar em revista as possíveis definições explicativas de tal conceito, dentro e fora do âmbito teórico-especulativo próprio do primeiro livro de Nietzsche, esperamos descerrar um caminho que nos leve a repensar a assim chamada “metafísica de artista”, e, em especial, aquilo que geralmente se entende por música dionisíaca.

Abstract: The present paper aims at investigating the meaning and scope of the idea of musical dissonance in The Birth of Tragedy. In reviewing the possible explanatory definitions of this concept, within and outside the speculative-theoretical framework proper to Nietzsche’s first book, we hope to open a path that leads us to rethink the so-called “artist metaphysics”, and, specially, what is generally understood as Dionysian music.
