Open-access Conflict and integration on the brasiguayan border

Abstract

This paper at first examines the various forms of conflict and integration in areas of strong Brazilian presence in Paraguayan society. The text centers on discussions related to national languages in this borders region. It also reflects on the forms of resistance by Paraguayan to the advancement of Brazilian culture and immigrants, particularly through school and the teaching of the two national languages: Spanish and Guarani.
