SUMMARY
Leonard jar trials have been carried out in order to compare the nitrogen fixation capacity of Rhizobium spp strains, isolated from some tropical legumes, on peanuts and Galactia striata. Nine strains were tested on peanuts and 22 on Galactia.
A strain (SMS-2) isolated from Desmodium uncinatum (Jacq.) DC prooved to be effective on both legume species. Some of the strains nodulated Galactia but not peanuts.
