Abstract

The article discusses the main initiatives of the Wolfensohn directed towards the self-reform of the World Bank and suggests a balance sheet of the results. It concludes that the management obtained an important political victory in dividing part of the Bank's critics. Its main actions, however, exposed the insurmountable limits of self-reform.
