SUMMARY This work deals about a new species of Flacourtiaceae - Abatia luxemburgioides Kuhlm. The description; and design were fount among documents from Dr. João Geraldo Kuhlmann which are now researched by us.

RESUMO Neste trabalho estudou-se o mecanismo de polinização de A. gigantea ressaltando os aspectos sapromiofílicos da flor. Consideraram-se detalhes anatômicos de diversas estruturas florais que funcionam como atrativos para os insetos e meio de captura dos mesmos. Dentre eles a pigmentação do perianto, os nectários, as células secretoras responsáveis pela emissão do odor e algumas estruturas epidérmicas. Foi estudado ainda o comportamento do provável polinizador efetivo Pseudohypocera kerteszi Enderlein (Díptero da família Phoridae) na flor de A. gigantea e identificaram-se os insetos visitantes, registrando-se sua freqüência.

SUMMARY In this work we have studied the mecanism of pollination of A. gigantea emphasizing the sapromyophilous aspects of the flower. The anatomic details of the different floral structures which function as attractives for the insects and means of the capture of same have been considered. Among these the pigmentation of perianth, the nectars, the secreting cells responsible for the emission of odour, some epidermic structures. The behavior of the probable effective pollinater P. kerteszi Enderlein (Díptero of the Phoridae family) on the flower of the A. gigantea was furthermore studied and the occasional pollinater and visitors were identified and recorded their frequency.

RESUMO Hydrocotyle leucocephala Cham. é uma espécie de sombra que cresce no Horto Florestal “Navarro de Andrade”, Rio Claro, São Paulo. Nesta área a precipitação média anual é de 1446,5 mm e a temperatura 19,6ºC. As fenofases de brotação, floração e frutificação ocorrem na estação úmida (Outubro-Abril) e a queda de folhas na estação seca (Abril-Setembro).

ABSTRACT Hydrocotyle leucocephala Cham. is a shade-species growing in the Horto Florestal “Navarro de Andrade”, Rio Claro, São Paulo. This place is located in an area with a mean annual rainfall of 1446,5 mm and a temperature of 19,6 ºC. The phenophases studied, leaf flushing, flowering and fruiting exhibits a high peak in the wet season (October-April) and the leaf fall in the dry and cold season (April-September).

SUMMARY In this paper 6 genera with 20 species to CONVOLVULACEAE, from the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil, are studied. Keys for different species are presented, geographical distribution in Brazil, and list of examined specimens are given.

RESUMO Os autores descrevem minuciosamente a anatomia comparada do lenho das espécies Weinmannia hirta Swartz e W. paulliniaefolia Pohl, bem como resumem as suas propriedades gerais, aplicações e ocorrência no Brasil, objetivando principalmente a organização de chaves dicotômicas para identificação e/ou determinação dos gêneros e espécies indígenas, produtoras de madeiras ou outros produtos florestais.
