“O que é isso, companheiro?”, 40 years: between autobiography, testimony, interview and confession

In “O que é isso, companheiro?”, Fernando Gabeira, its author, tries to set up for himself a new person. As a result, it makes use of genres and discursive devices (autobiography, testimony, interview and confession) making them more flexible in order to obtain this person. From a reflection on genres and devices mencioned, throwing hand of the critical fortune on the book, the article tries to glimpse the movements made by the narrative to reach its objective that is to undress its author of the costume adhered to him by the years of life in the hosts of opposition to the military regime.
