Open-access “Little more than a tourist trip”: the youth travels of Celso Furtado

This essay on the meaning of youth travel for the formation of the intellectual persona of Celso Furtado uses autobiographical writing to suggest that it is so possible to see a continuous movement of widening sociability circles to which travel contributes, as to realize that this writing fulfills a function that allows us to think about that enlargement in the key of the risks that this self faces in contact with the world and that the journey as a metaphor summarizes.
