Pretuguês, intersectionality and Black Women's politico-cultural agency in Brazil

This text establishes a dialogue between Lélia Gonzalez’s theory and contemporary intersectional theories. With that in mind, I debate the author’s contributions to psychoanalysis and the centrality of the concept of pretuguês. Through this idea, I observe the central role given to Black women by the author in the social formation of Brazil. I also discuss the quotidian resistance practices of these subjects. Gonzalez’s theory is therefore an addition to intersectionality situated in the Brazilian context.
