Failed encounters: relations between gay and lesbian studies and gender studies in Brazil

Abstract

This article aims at examining the development of the field of the gay and lesbian studies in Brazil and their relations with the gender studies. The author argues that historical, political and scientific field formation related problems shaped the ways both areas have interacted.
