Pilar Palomero is a film director who recently emerged in Spanish cinema and has received numerous awards and nominations for her debut feature film Las niñas. This paper presents the findings of the film analysis, which include the prevailing political, social, and cultural context in Spain of the nineties, as a framework to delve into topics and characters together with the stylistic elements that convey them. The results are structured according to the five central issues of feminist film theory mentioned by Bárbara Zecchi: body, pleasure, violence, space, and authorship, that highlight the existing tensions between the model of women promoted by the education received by girls and the one projected by some mass media of the time.
