The authors analyse the selection process that is being used at the "Escota de Enfermagem da Universidade de São Paulo", for selection of graduate nurses the enrollment in the specialization program on Intensive Care Nursing. They refer the objective and the method used at the selection of candidates, as the results obtained.

Caracterizase, inicialmente, o papel da universidade na formação de recursos humanos em enfermagem. A seguir, são delineadas as etapas para a elaboração do currículo de graduação em enfermagem, sendo destacados os marcos referencial, conceituai, estrutural e metodológico. Os princípios que norteiam o ensino de enfermagem, bem como a forma de introdução do ensino de enfermagem de saúde pública são discutidos dentro do modelo curricular vigente e dentro de uma ampla reestruturação curricular. Ao final são formulados os questionamentos em relação aos papéis do enfermeiro docente e do enfermeiro de campo na atualidade.

Abstract in English:

The authors describe the role of the University in the preparation of human resources of nursing and present the bases for planning of the undergraduate curriculum, emphasizing the referencial, conceptual, structural and methodological frameworks. The principles which should guide nursing education as well as the introduction of public health nursing in the curriculum are discussed. At least there are formulated questions about the nursing teacher's role and the practitioner nursing's role in the actuality.

Este trabalho ê o resultado de uma pesquisa realizada junto a vários elementos da equipe psiquiátrica com enfoque multiprofissional. Os autores só acreditam que o trabalho em equipe multiprofissional será efetivo se cada um de seus membros estiver seguro de seu papel e das respectivas funções que o compõem. Foram utilizadas, como parâmetro, as funções do enfermeiro psiquiátrico elaboradas com base na revisão de literatura sobre o papel do enfermeiro.

Abstract in English:

This paper is based on a study on the functions of the nurse, as a member of the multiprofessional team, in one Psychiatric Hospital. The populations interviewed was composed of 16 nurses, 17 phisicians, 7 social workers, 3 occupational therapists and 3 psychologists. The results showed that not even the nurses had a clear idea of their functions. The author's conclusions emphasize the need of a good undergraduate program on Psychiatric Nursing and on continuing education.

Neste trabalho relata-se a experiência das docentes da disciplina Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica sobre o ensino da prescrição de enfermagem, e são abordados os princípios básicos, as formas de elaboração e as estratégias utilizadas.

The authors refer the orientation given by the instructors of Medical-Surgical Nursing to undergraduate students on the nursing prescription, its basic principles and the strategies employed.

As autoras descrevem os resultados de um levantamento realizado em laboratório de enfermagem (LE), com a finalidade de verificar algumas características de treinamento de estudantes para a aquisição de habilidades psicomotoras. Os alunos responderam a um questionário com questões versando sobre a motivação para o uso do LE, preferencias quanto à companhia para o treinamento, à orientação, à forma de simular o cliente, ao auxílio provido por aluno monitor, às fases dos procedimentos treinados e ao êxito alcançado.

The authors describle the results of a small survey of the students' training for in the Nursing Laboratory of the School of Nursing the improvment of their psychomotor hability classroom laboratory. The students answered questions on the motivation for the use of the Laboratory, preferences for training alone or with classmates and for using the doll or a classmate to simulate the patient, the monitoring of a senior student, the bibliography used and the procedures selected for training.

Este trabalho, realizado para atender uma motivação pessoal da autora, teve como finalidade a de encontrar elementos que permitissem melhorar a assistência à mãe acompanhante em nosso meio. A população constou de mães que acompanhavam seus filhos internados em duas unidades pediátricas que apresentavam sistema de internação conjunta de características diferentes, bem como diferenças quanto ao tipo de patologia assistida. Os dados foram colhidos por meio de entrevista, utilizando-se um formulário com perguntas abertas. Verificou-se que as mães acompanhantes sentem mais mal-estar do que bem-estar no hospital e que elas justificam seu mal-estar principalmente através de uma gama de razões relacionadas à situação hospitalar; que a principal nececessidade das mães na situação estudada é dar cuidados ao filho, além de apresentarem necessidades como informações; que as mães acompanhantes esperam contatos pessoais da equidpe hospitalar e que o pessoal hospitalar dê assistência às crianças. Constatou-se também uma grande variedade de motivos determinando tanto as necessidades quanto as expectativas das mães, motivos esses que evidenciam a individualidade das mães e dos significados únicos que a experiência de acompanhar um filho hospitalizado têm para cada uma delas.

Abstract in English:

This work had the finality of searching elements to improve the living-in mothers assistance in our hospitals. The population under study included accompanying mothers in two different pediatric units. The differences between the two units were with respect to room accomodations for mothers and stipulations as to the type of disease pathology being treated. The data was collected by way of interviews in which a questionnaire of open questions was used. Results showed that the rooming-in mothers of the sample felt more discomfort than confort in the hospital, due to many different aspects of the hospital situation; the principal need of the studied mothers was to be able to give care to their children, while others needs related to receiving information about their child's condition. The living-in mothers expected to have personal contact with the hospital health team while the hospital personnel would be giving assistance to the children. Many reasons were given for the varying needs and expectations of the rooming-in mothers, showing the individuality of these women and the different ways in which a living-in experience affect different mothers.
