THE EVOLUTION OF RESEARCH TRENDS IN INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: AN ANALYSIS FROM 1993 TO 2023

This study investigates the evolution of research trends in Information Management and Knowledge Management, aiming at understanding the thematic evolutions related to Knowledge and Information Management. The analysis was conducted through the identification of keyword co-occurrences in academic articles indexed in the Web of Science, covering four decades (1990-2020), allowing for the understanding of thematic relationships in scientific production during the analyzed period. The results highlight more significant interconnections among the themes of Information Management, Knowledge Management, and information retrieval, revealing them to be fundamental elements in the organizational context to foster innovation and competitiveness in complex scenarios. Furthermore, the research identifies changes in the most prominent keywords over time, indicating emerging trends in the field, such as “Big Data” and “Artificial Intelligence”. It is concluded that the relationship between Information Management and Knowledge Management is directly related to information retrieval processes along with decision-making, information science, information systems, information technology, document management, higher education, information, innovation, knowledge, knowledge sharing, management, and personal information management.
