Purpose: Verify the external ear volume, compliance, and gradient measurements, in relation With the earside, sex and age.
Methods: 91 aged people, with age equal to and above 65 years, being400f masculine sex and 51 of the feminine sex were evaluated. The individuals have had been submitted to an otorrinolaryngological evaluation and the acoustics Immittance Measurements, performed in AUDIOIAVRAS clinic, in the Lavras city, Minas Gerais.
Results: the averageof the values of external ear volume obtained in the aged People hasd been of 1.,91 cmJ for the left ear, and 1. cm] for the right ear. ; the average compliance values have d been of 0.,75cc for the left ear and O, ,71cc for the right ear; the average gradient values in the studied population of aged People have d been of 0.,31 for the left ear and 0.,30 for the right ear.
Conclusions: There Were not any significant statistical diferences of the external ear volume, compliance and gradient values, with relation to the sex, age and ear side variables, in this study.
