Open-access Ttinnitus control through the use of ear hearing aids

Purpose:  Evaluate tinnitus response to behind the ear hearing aids with open molds.

Methods:  31 patients with tinnitus complaint and hearing loss underwent a test using BTE devices with open mold in both ears whenever possible. However, 16 opted for unilateral use.

Results:  Tinnitus diminished in 71% and hearing loss improved in 87% of the patients. Open molds were significantly better for tinnitus Control. There was no significant difference between unilateral and bilateral adaptation.

Conclusion:  BTE devices with open molds were eficient for to tinnitus control.
