Open-access AVALIAÇÃO TECNOLÓGICA EM SAÚDE

The autl1or discusses Health Technology Assessment in the context of the decision-making process and its interfaces with medical training and professional practice. He maintains that the biomedical paradigm is incapable of either explaining the health/disease process or responding fully and equitably to human and social health needs.

He acknowledges both the intent and intentionality in the choice and use of health technologies. The article concludes that there is a need for Health Technology Assessment to become an integral program in scientific policy for the health sector, within a framework of individual and social rights and needs as well as ethical principles pertaining to society.
