Scaling and simplification: biological and physical system examples

Abstract

In this article some examples are given where one can make use of mathematical simplification and adimensionalization procedures in physical and biological systems. The importance of this procedure is discussed in a didactic way. A simple deduction of the procedure is made in a classical mechanical system and applied aftewards to the predato-prey system.
