Open-access Teaching chromatic vision using a colored-LED apparatus

Abstract

Understanding the color vision mechanism, in high school in particular, is important in the formation of a person able to follows imaging technologies, which also helps to understand how he perceives the natural world colors. Based on Young-Helmholtz trichromatic theory and making use of a tri-color RGB LED, with relatively low cost assembly, it has been developed an apparatus that enables the teacher to show how colors can be added to compose other ones, i.e. additive synthesis.
