Physical intuition and generalization of the Coulomb and Biot-Savart laws to the time-dependent case

Abstract

We discuss the role played by physical intuition in expressing the electromagnetic field in terms of its sources in the general time-dependent case. Among the lessons learned, the one that stands out is that it is dangerous to dissociate physical intuition from the mathematical description of the phenomena.
