Open-access Soil chemical characteristics influenced by addiction of swine wastewater

The objective of the present work was to study the effects of the application of swine wastewater (SW) on some chemical characteristics of Latosol and to evaluate the variation in the forms of nitrate and ammonium in relation to the mineralized nitrogen, under different conditions of temperature and water contents in the soil. Samples of Latosol were mixed with SW in amount corresponding to 400 kg ha-1 of nitrogen and incubated under different conditions of temperature and water contents. At 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 96 days after incubation the concentrations of ammonium and nitrate were quantified and at 3 and 96 days analysis electrical conductivity, pH, total nitrogen and carbon were also evaluated. The microorganisms accomplished larger nitrification in the temperature of 25 °C. The application of SW contributed to the increase of the pH and of the electrical conductivity, at 3 days after incubation of the soil. On average, at 96 days after incubation there was an increase in electrical conductivity of soil with and without SW.
