Open-access Bicho mau: notas sobre matanças de serpentes no norte e noroeste de Minas Gerais

The killing of snakes is a widespread practice in the north and northwest regions of Minas Gerais. One of the reasons used to justify the slaughtering refers to the association established between the animal and bad/evil. In this article, I intend to understand the meaning of this association, describe the ways snakes are killed and discuss possible ways of peaceful coexistence between people and animals.
