Article A new species of Labidoculex Reichensperger, 1936 from Brazil: a further new rove beetle species for the Biological Station of Boraceia (Staphylinidae, Aleocharinae, Lomechusini), São Paulo State Montanhini, Amanda Zilberman, Bruno Moreno, Carlos Resumo em Inglês: Abstract Labidoculex Reichensperger, 1936 is a Neotropical genus of myrmecophilous rove beetles (Staphylinidae) currently consisting of three described species. The genus has a disjunct distribution extending from Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina, and the species are known to be associated with army ants of the genus Labidus Jurine, 1807. Here, we describe and illustrate a new species within the genus, Labidoculex wazowski sp. nov., based on two individuals collected with a light trap at the Estação Biológica de Boraceia in Brazil. Most of the host association and biology of Labidoculex species remain speculative, since only one species has been collected with ants. However, we suggest that L. wazowski sp. nov. may be a myrmecophilous guest of Labidus, based on the co-occurrence with these ants in the type locality and with other myrmecophilous collected in the same collection. The new species is the first record of the genus Labidoculex for the state of São Paulo, Brazil. |

Article Filling gaps: pentatomids (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Boraceia Biological Station (São Paulo, Brazil) with a preliminary checklist for the Atlantic Rain Forest Roell, Talita López, Guilherme Enrique Luisi Schwertner, Cristiano Feldens Resumo em Inglês: Abstract The Boraceia Biological Station (BBS) is located in the Salesópolis municipality, State of São Paulo, and represents an important natural protected area of the Atlantic Rain Forest in one of Brazil’s most urbanized states. In this work, an inventory for the BBS was compiled, using specimens deposited in the Zoology Museum of the University of São Paulo and through consultation of bibliography. We list 36 species of stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) collected over 80 years. Six species were recorded for the first time in the State of São Paulo. The inventory represents the first one comparing the diversity of species from BBS with the recorded diversity of the Atlantic Rain Forest. We also present a preliminary checklist of pentatomids of the Atlantic Rain Forest and highlight the importance of preserving natural areas in the Atlantic Rain Forest. |

Article Iphiclus Chevrolat of Boraceia Biological Station: checklist, description of larva and redescription of adult of I. abdominalis (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Erotylidae: Erotylinae) Silva, Thiago J. Casari, Sônia A. Resumo em Inglês: Abstract Larva of Iphiclus abdominalis (Fabricius, 1792) is described and illustrated, and the adult is redescribed. This larva is the first published description of an identified species of Iphiclus Chevrolat; the first description of immatures of this genus was based on one unidentified species (described as “Brachysphenus” sp.). A brief review of the descriptions of Erotylini larvae is provided. The larval comparison with other known Erotylini larvae is included, and the geographical distribution of adult of I. abdominalis is updated and plotted on a map. A historical review of the genus and species is presented leading to taxonomical decisions; Iphiclus abdominalis (Olivier, 1792) is considered a junior primary homonym and a new synonym of I. abdominalis (Fabricius, 1792). Also, a checklist to Iphiclus species from Boraceia Biological Station (BBS) is provided, with illustrations, and an updated distribution of the species that occur in that location. ARTICLE The caddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera) from the Estação Biológica de Boraceia, São Paulo state, Southeastern Brazil: checklist and new records Vilarino, Albane Desidério, Gleison Robson Passadori, Vanessa Perondini Resumo em Inglês: Abstract A checklist of caddisfly species (Trichoptera) found in the Estação Biológica de Boraceia, a 96-hectare preserved area of Atlantic Forest in the municipality of Salesópolis, São Paulo, Brazil, is presented. Trichoptera collections at this location were conducted from 1957 to 2011, documenting 56 species across 12 families and 19 genera. Leptoceridae was the most diverse family, with 12 species, followed by Philopotamidae and Hydropsychidae, each with eight species. Oxyethira poapi (Hydroptilidae), described initially from Argentina, is recorded in Brazil for the first time. Additionally, Hydroptila producta (Hydroptilidae), Cernotina longispina (Polycentropodidae), and Nectopsyche ortizi (Leptoceridae) are recorded for the first time in the state of São Paulo. |

It presents the first checklist of Diptera from EBB, based on literature and museum specimens. Currently, 721 species, belonging to 312 genera and 57 families, are known from EBB, including 193 species described from the area. These numbers are likely underestimated, as they are based on multiple short-term studies; to date, no comprehensive, long-term inventory specifically targeting Diptera has been conducted in the area. Among the species examined, 56 are new records for the state of São Paulo and 13 for Brazil. The three most species-rich families are Mycetophilidae, Drosophilidae, and Muscidae, while the three most diverse in the number of genera are Tachinidae, Asilidae, and Muscidae. These findings reinforce EBB’s role as a Diptera biodiversity hotspot and highlight the need for expanded research infrastructure and taxonomic expertise across Brazilian biomes. This checklist provides a foundation for future research in taxonomy, biogeography, and evolution. |
