The municipality of Campinas is recognized for its mental health care network built in partnership with the Dr. Cândido Ferreira Health Service (SSCF). The anthropological literature on research ethics points to a relation of submission of the way of doing ethnography the biomedical norms that base the evaluation of researches of the human sciences in health institutions. The purpose of the article is to show the authorization process for the realization of my field research no Serviço Residencial Terapêutico (SRT), managed by SSCF. With this, I present the current problematic about research ethics, the negotiations of the beginning of my field research, and how the production of an anthropological knowledge is determined in an ethical relationship with the research interlocutors.
