Open-access A critical theory of recognition

Abstract

The idea of social recognition is examined regarding its range and its application domain. Special attention is given to the contributions of Charles Taylor and Axel Honneth. It is argued that this perspective is particularly promising for the refinement of analyses involving multiple cultural identities in complex societies.
