Open-access Democratic choice in a comparative perspective

Abstract

The author argues that although the levels of support of democracy in Brazil are comparatively low according to surveys conducted since 1988, a "semi-majoritarian" democratic consensus is emerging, allowing for a basis of political attitudes favorable to the stabilization of democracy and to further democratic advances.
