Open-access Migration and labor market restructuring: the BR-163 case in the state of Mato Grosso

The present work seeks to address the reconfiguration of agricultural labor, carried out under the coordination of global tradings companies, and its repercussions on migratory flows. For this analysis, the region of highway BR-163 in Mato Grosso was selected, because, after the 2000s it had a significant growth in agricultural production and a strong presence of global tradings companies and also registered an intense population growth in the last thirty years. The results show that the agribusiness productive chain in Mato Grosso is associated with specific migration flows.
