Open-access Ethnobotany: a instrument for valorisation and identification of potential for the protection of traditional knowledge

Abstract

Aimed to point out ethnobotanical studies as instrument for valorisation and identification of potential protection of traditional knowledge, the approach of Geographical Indications (GIs), aiming to promote local development based on new social and environmental solutions. We investigated a rural community in Rio de Janeiro / Brazil, located in UC Atlantic. Urge that such an approach is promoted to bring local economic benefits and subsidize public policies.
