A lecture on the meaning of development from the perspective of discourse analysis

Abstract

This article seeks to analise the discourse of the printed media in what concerns the development of the Agreste of the Pernambuco region. The analysis is made from the editorial of the biggest newspaper of the state, thus, an opinion maker. The discourse cited concerns itself in highlighting the economic aspects of development and of employment generation and it is not very concerned in discussing sustainable development.
