Open-access Nossa Senhora do Pantanal: from prayer to song

This article aims to present how the history of Nossa Senhora do Pantanal echoed from the locality of Pantanal to the music of the singer and songwriter Alzira E. As theoretical foundations, we base ourselves on the research by Béra and Lamy (2015), Bernardi and Castilho (2016), Couto (2009), Dal Farra (2014), Espíndola (2017), Lotman (1998; 2000), Mesquita (2015), Murgel (2005), Nogueira (1990; 2002), Pinto (2006), Rosa and Duncan (2009), Rosendahl (2005), among others. As a methodological contribution, we will present a brief understanding of the appearance of the saint in the Pantanal context and also analyze the lyrics of the song composed by Orlando Antunes and set to music by Alzira E. From the discussions and results found, we discovered in the Pantanal religion and culture a single object: the commitment to the people and the land, present in the daily life of the Pantanal people.
