Open-access What do the Kalungas want? The evolution of academic analysis of the demands of former-slave communities in the Northeastern region of Goiás

The purpose of this article is to present a retrospective on the academic literature of the last thirty years about the demands of the Kalunga Quilombo (maroon) community situated in the northeast of Goiás State, in Brazil. The maindemands of the Kalungas found in the literature were listed during the analysis of twenty-five texts. The demands were then classified as “persistent”, “partially remedied” and “recent” in order to create a more complete picture of the changes experienced by this community.
