Challenges and contradictions of a solidarity project: the case of an association of collectors of recyclable materials

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this work was to describe and analyze the functioning of an association of collectors of recyclable materials. Six scavengers were interviewed and data were analyzed through content analysis. The results showed absence of alternation of power, lack of autonomy on the part of the associates and low financial return. The need for more dialogic practices, the development of the autonomy of the collectors and the search for improvements in the quality of work of the associates is emphasized.
