Holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Toronto. She acted as an adjunct professor at Saint Michael’s College, in Vermont, USA and as an associate professor at UFMG teaching language and Applied Linguistic courses. Since then, he continues as a volunteer in the Linguistic Studies Graduate Program at the institution’s College of Language Arts. She also acts as a consultant in in-service teacher development programs at public and private institutions. In 2007, she created the informal research group ACCOOLHER (Activity, Complexity, Collaboration: Listening, Observing Lessons, Stories, Experiences and Reflections), whose object is experiential research. She is one of the members of the research group Education and Foreign Language Learning, from UFMG. She conducted her post-doctoral research as a visiting researcher at the School of Education of the University of Leeds in UK, in 2015-2016. Raquel works at CEFET-MG - Federal Center of Technological Education of Minas Gerais, where she currently teaches English language and Applied Linguistics courses. She also coordinates a research group listed at the CNPq directory of Brazilian research groups called NALET (Language Learning and Technological Teaching) and her research interests are in experiences of teaching and learning English as a foreign language, especially those involving L2 motivation.
