Hyphomycetes on leaf litter of Caesalpinia echinata Lam. with two new records from Brazil
Silva, Priscila da
Grandi, Rosely Ana Piccolo
Abstract in English: Hyphomycetes were abundant on plant debris and play a part on decomposition of these substrates. Samples of Caesalpinia echinata leaf litter were collected in two areas of State of São Paulo, at "Parque Municipal do Ibirapuera" and "Reserva Biológica de Mogi-Guaçu", from February 2005 to February 2006. The leaves were prepared by washing with serial changes of sterile distilled water and incubated in moist chambers at environment temperature. Third-two Hyphomycetes were isolated. Of these, four species are described for the first time to Brazil, seven are new records to São Paulo State and seventeen are cited for the first time to Brazil-wood leaf litter. |

Macroscopic fungi at the lowlands of Rio Negro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil
Bononi, Vera Lucia Ramos
Hjortstam, Hypochnicium vellereum (Ellis & Cragin) Parmasto, Lentinus concavus (Berk.) Corner, Mycena parabolica (Fr.) Quél., Mycoaciella bispora (Stalpers) J. Erikss. & Ryvarden, Nigroporus macroporus Ryvarden & Iturr., Nothopanus hygrophanus (Mont.) Singer, Pholiota polychroa (Berk.) A.H. Sm. & H.J. Brodie, Pleurotus agaves Dennis, Trametes subectypus (Murrill) Gilbn. Abstract in English: The wetlands' biodiversity is virtually unknown, particularly to fungi. As a consequence of the devastation caused by the advances made by the cattle-raising industry, a significant part of the native vegetation has been eliminated and only fragments of savannah woods, vast grazing areas and furrows formed by the accumulation of logs cut have been left. At Rio Negro lowlands, five fungi collection excursions were carried out in 2006, in the driest period. Fifty six species of Basidiomycetes and one of macroscopic Ascomycetes were identified. All species are being mentioned for the first time for the State of Mato Grosso do Sul and Collybia bakeri Dennis, Entoloma cerussatum Pegler, Epithelopsis fulva (G. Cunn.) Jülich, Hypochniciellum subillaqueatum (Litsch.) Hjortstam, Hypochnicium vellereum (Ellis & Cragin) Parmasto, Lentinus concavus (Berk.) Corner, Mycenaparabolica (Fr.) Quél., Mycoaciella bispora (Stalpers) J. Erikss. & Ryvarden, Nigroporus macroporus Ryvarden & Iturr., Nothopanus hygrophanus (Mont.) Singer, Pholiotapolychroa (Berk.) A.H. Sm. & H.J. Brodie, Pleurotus agaves Dennis, Trametes subectypus (Murrill) Gilbn. & Ryvarden, and Tricholomopsis tropica Dennis for the first time to Brazil. |

A new species of Canistrum E. Morren (Bromeliaceae) from Brazil
Abstract in English: A new species of Canistrum E. Morren (Bromeliaceae) from Bahia and Minas Gerais is described and illustrated. A brief history of the genera Canistrum and Wittrockia is presented showing the complex segregation between these two taxa, supporting the inclusion of the new species in the genus Canistrum. Canistrum flavipetalum is similar to C. cyathiforme (Vell.) Mez, both presenting a conspicuous scape with one or three bracts, but differs from each other by the yellow to orange petals, and rose to purple inflorescence bracts in C. cyathiforme, while in C. flavipetalum the bracts are green or whitish, sometimes reddish at apex and the petals are pale yellow with greenish base. |

Figueiredo, Marcia A. de O.
Testa, Viviane
O levantamento ocorreu no verão e inverno, no platô e borda recifal. Abstract in English: The partially exposed reef bank of Praia de Jacaraípe is built by up to 40 cm thickness of crustose coralline red algae upon a Holocene reef community. This work aims to describe the flora composition and phytobenthic structure of this community that has not been studied yet. The survey was carried out during winter and summer. On the reef flat and reef border ten randon quadrats were sampled along 20 m transect in each habitat. Dettke, Greta Aline
Milaneze-Gutierre, Maria Auxiliadora
Abstract in English: This study aimed at characterizing the stem of seven epiphytes species of Cactaceae: Epiphyllum phyllanthus, Hatiora salicornioides, Lepismium cruciforme, L. warmingianum, Rhipsalis baccifera, R. cereuscula and R. sulcata, from a fragment of Seasonal Semidecidual Forest in Maringá, northwest of the State of Paraná. Most species had stems covered by thick cuticle sometimes with an adjacent epicuticular layer. They showed parallelocytic stomata, frequently sunken in the epidermis. Underlying, they are 1-3 layers of collenchymatous hypoderm and a great proportion of cortical parenchyma, presenting mucilaginous and crystalliferous cells. The central cylinder has the vascular bundles forming a concentric ring, always with cap of fibers in the phloem pole, and the pith can be or not sclerified. Starch and lipid substances are the main storage compounds of these plants. |
